Obituary of Virginia Buchanan

Graveside services for the immediate family of Virginia Nell Buchanan, 91, of Fort Worth, Texas will be 10:00 am Friday, August 28, 2020 at Eastside Cemetery in Bridgeport, Texas, officiated by Pastor Bill Hughes. Virginia passed away Monday, August 24 in Fort Worth.

She was born March 26, 1929 in Annona, Texas to Edward Lee and Kimbrough Victoria (Lipe) Minter.

Virginia was a country girl who grew up riding horses and playing basketball. When she became a mother she became quite the seamstress and made her daughters’ clothes, often dressing them alike, to the dismay of older sister Gayla, who was four years older.

She was a big Waylon Jennings and Elvis Presley fan and would teasingly tell the younger family members that these were her ‘boyfriends’.

Virginia loved traveling and enjoyed taking road trips to neighboring states, as well as an occasional vacation to Hawaii and other scenic destinations.

She leaves behind daughters Gayla Buchanan of Paradise, Texas, Myla Plenert and husband Dwight of Paradise; grandchildren Jori Dearing and husband Robin of Paradise, Jody Totten and wife Bekah of Decatur, Kelsee Plenert of Fort Worth, Dalton Plenert of Fort Worth; and great-grandchildren Harley, Kobey, and Presley Dearing, and Stella and Gunner Totten.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville Buchanan, and brothers Harold Lee and Edward Blaine Minter.
