Obituary of Dolores Rivera

Mass of Christian burial for Dolores Rivera, 65, of Bridgeport will be 11:00 am, Thursday, January 18, 2018 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Bridgeport, officiated by Father Thomas Dsouza and Deacon Art Casias. Burial will follow in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Pallbearers are Michael Rivera, Brandon Rivera, Christian Rivera, Fabian Rivera, Adolfo Rodriguez, Jr., Enrique ‘Jose’ Rodriguez, and Liliana Rivera. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17 from 6-8 pm at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, with Rosary at 7:00 pm. Dolores passed away Sunday, January 14 in Decatur.

Dolores was born May 5, 1952 in Allende Coahuila, Mexico to Adolfo and Maria (Lara) Rodriguez.  She married Ismael Rivera on September 22, 1968 in Allende Coahuila.


She enjoyed attending Friday night football games in Bridgeport and rooting on her mighty Bulls, playing loteria with family, and most importantly, spending time with the grandkids. Dolores she was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed all aspects of life such as traveling and cooking, etc. WinStar will miss her money as well.


She was proud of becoming a US citizen, and of her 31 years as a school custodian. She was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church in Bridgeport.


Dolores leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Ismael Rivera; sons Ismael Rivera, Jr. and wife LaDawn, Luis A. Rivera and wife Rosalba, Jesus A. Rivera, and Cesar Rivera; daughter Brenda Rivera and husband Ceserio Puentes; mother Maria Rodriguez; brothers Mario Rodriguez and wife Josepha, Jesus Rodriguez and wife Maria, Adolfo Rodriguez and wife Celia, and Jorge Rodriguez; sister Socorro Lopez; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Adolfo Rodriguez, daughter Juanita Rivera, and brother Javier Rodriguez.
